CS ARMSTRONG YA OWN KIND

CS Armstrong's timeless voice is bound to salivate your musical tastebuds. Rooted in blues and folk, the depth of his voice carries the same pain and morose passion as blues singers like Lead Belly and Robert Johnson, yet eclectic production styles bring a tasteful, modern varnish. Armstrong's adolescence in his hometown Houston, Texas was one of contrast - his wholesome musical journey which was discovered through playing piano at his grandmother's, playing saxophone in church and playing jazz bands, split with his exposure to gang activity which grew increasingly dangerous, causing him to enlist in the army for 8 years, then move to New York, and now California. This talented man has just released a single 'YA OWN KIND', produced by Jay Versace. Thoughtful piano and mellow brass plays over a muted beat. Armstrong's vocal subtle and mellifluous vocal resonates with the words "don't nobody hate you like your own kind, don't nobody love you in the wrong time". His vocals gain a rhythmic and deeply soulful flux, rooted in salty tear's sorrow as the song progresses. 'YA OWN KIND' is a wistful thing of beauty. -Ellie Rose-Davies
